Configuring an Aquasure Harmony water softener for meter delay mode is best in my opinion. It triggers a regeneration during the specified time (typically during the middle of the night) after the specified amount of gallons have been consumed. This makes things more efficient because it consumes salt during a regeneration only when needed vs. regenerating at a set schedule that may consume salt before a regeneration is actually needed. My water softener will regenerate after every 3,000 gallons of water consumed but everyone’s gallons setting is likely different. I tested water hardness immediately before regeneration to ensure that my water’s hardness was still soft. If hardness had been present, I would have reduced the gallon count to make the water softener regenerated more frequently.
