Mavic Pro Platinum & Phantom 4 Pro Obsidian – Are they an upgrade?

The "new" DJI drones that were announce 08/31/2017 at a trade show in Europe have confused me. Is the DJI Mavic Pro Platinum or DJI Phantom 4 Pro Obsidian actually an upgrade?
