My Sony a7Riv worked great until I was in the field filming drone review videos. After I left the frame, AF would never focus again. I troubleshot extensively and even reset the Sony a7Riv to the factory configuration but that did not resolve the issue. Since my Sony a7Riv was still covered by warranty, I exchanged it for a working replacement. I recently learned that the root cause of my Sony a7Riv’s AF issue was the external field monitor that was connected. Apparently a Sony a7Riv cannot auto-focus properly, while an external monitor is connected via HDMI. I wish that Sony would simply release a full-frame camera model with a flip-forward LCD display. #a7Riv
