My 2017 VW Passat turns off when I open the door after a remote start. This seems kind of silly, given that I have the VW’s key in my pocket. After researching this issue to attempt to find a fix, I found that it’s not a defect but is actually by design. This prevents someone from remotely starting a car and a stranger driving off in the car that was already running. Why can’t it not simply detect the VW key in the driver’s pocket and not turn off? This is a minor complaint but it seems to be something that could be easily improved. I love the Volkswagen Passat but this pretty much negates the benefit of utilizing remote start. #VW #RemoteStart
